Among the questions leading up to Sunday's Super Bowl — in addition to who would win and by how many points — was whether Chrysler Group LLC could score three consecutive years.

After 2011's homage to Detroit, featuring rapper Eminem, and 2012's "Halftime in America," with Clint Eastwood, Chrysler responded Sunday with a tribute to military forces and their families, voiced by Oprah Winfrey, and a separate appreciation of the American farmer, in the words of legendary radio broadcaster Paul Harvey.

They were among a dozen spots bought by the automakers, totaling about $90 million, during the game; other auto ads came before kickoff.

"When you're home, we are more than a family. We are a nation that is whole again," Winfrey says of America's fighting forces, in a two-minute Jeep ad. Within minutes of its airing, youtube.com viewers reported being moved to tears; by the end of the game, the ad logged more than 13,000 hits on the Super Bowl's official website.
