Ford will show a racing version of its Fiesta ST at the Chicago auto show, which opens to the public on Saturday. The automaker announced on Wednesday its intention to compete with the performance subcompact in Global RallyCross Championship events as part of an expanded 2013 G.R.C. program for the brand. No newcomer to the series, Ford won the G.R.C. manufacturer’s championships in 2011 and 2012.

Some of the Global RallyCross races are held in conjunction with the X Games, a partnership that has helped publicize the series. “Global RallyCross and X Games allow us to connect with the next generation of Ford customers and a very important group of performance enthusiasts,” said Jamie Allison, director, Ford Racing.
