Ford Motor Co. and United Auto Workers Local 862 officials broke ground Saturday on a retreat center in Corydon, Ind., that will provide overnight housing accommodations for wounded service members, first responders and their families.

According to a news release from Ford and the union, about $100,000 in capital and labor will be donated by Ford (NYSE: F) and the UAW to construct the center on the campus of local nonprofit Hero Reward.

Hero Reward is a nonprofit that owns a 200-acre facility in Corydon that offers free outdoor excursion retreats for wounded veterans and their families. It was founded in September 2011 and hosts about 50 families each year.
