General Motors said its April sales were the best for that month in five years, up 11.4% to 237,646 new vehicles.
All brands reported strong increases.
•Cadillac was up 34.3%. The new ATS small sedan's strong performance, plus small gains for the big Escalade truck-bases SUV, outweighed a big drop in CTS sales as the current model sells down in preparation for a new design soon.
