The General Motors Foundation deepened its commitment to Habitat for Humanity International with a fresh donation of $1 million to benefit neighborhood revitalization efforts throughout the U.S.

The donation, revealed at the Washington Auto Show, is devoted to home construction and rehabilitation efforts in 12 cities, including Detroit and Lansing. Other cities include Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore and Los Angeles.

In December, GM donated 25 Chevrolet Express cargo vans to Habitat for Humanity to help with Hurricane Sandy response efforts.

“General Motors has already joined Habitat for Humanity to address a critical need following Hurricane Sandy,” Larry Gluth, senior vice president of U.S. and Canada operations for Habitat for Humanity International, said in a statement. “Today, the company is building on its commitment, and we are very grateful to the GM Foundation for its generosity.”
