The revamped Cadillac CTS will get a new engine when it starts rolling out of General Motors Co.’s Lansing Grand River plant later this year.

The Detroit carmaker said Monday the luxury sedan, which is getting a makeover for the 2014 model year, will come with an eight-speed automatic transmission mated with a new six-cylinder twin-turbo engine as a top-level option.

The new powertrain is the “highest-output V6 we’ve done in General Motors history,” said Richard Bartlett, assistant chief engineer for the engine.
