Automakers are hoping to highlight design, entertainment and manufacturing in their latest models that debut at the New York International Auto Show this week.

Twenty-three automakers will reveal cars and crossovers that have never been seen before in the U.S. as the show celebrates its 113th anniversary. The offerings will be heavily weighted toward luxury brands.

"There is always an abundance of luxury vehicles at the New York show," said Michelle Krebs, an analyst with Edmunds.com, a consumer and dealer information service. "It's because New York and Los Angeles are the biggest luxury car markets in the United States."
