Morgan White and Jay Saunders, high schoolers from Vale, Oregon, on Tuesday were named America’s top auto technicians after besting peers from around the country at fixing a bugged 2015 Ford Mustang fastback.
The students won the annual Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills National Finals, held at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, after diagnosing and repairing a number of mechanical, electrical and digital defects on the Mustang. The two-person student teams were graded on quality repair workmanship and safety. Their scores were combined with the results of a written examination taken on June 8.
