• Ford Warriors In Pink, 19 Years Strong Continues As A Symbol Of Unity In The Fight Against Breast Cancer

    Ford Warriors in Pink® – the program created by Ford Motor Company to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer – continues its 19-year quest to keep the subject of breast cancer a part of everyday life. This month, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Warriors in Pink and actor Gilles Marini will be in New York City promoting the limited-edition T-shirt Marini created to aid in the fight against the disease.

    Additionally, Ford Warriors in Pink is launching two distinct video series: One, “In Her World,” created by celebrity news site PopSugar, is an intimate look at prominent women and their stories of inspiration. The other, “Courage Talks,” part of the Models of Courage campaign created in 2012, covers the difficult conversations breast cancer patients will inevitably face.

  • Ford Builds EcoBoost Race Car to Set Speed Record

    Ford Motor Co. plans to set a new speed record next week at Daytona International Speedway using a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine that is similar to EcoBoost power plants found under the hoods of some of its street vehicles.

    The planned Oct. 9 record attempt is part of a broad program at Ford to promote its turbocharged EcoBoost engines, which the car maker touts as delivering the unusual combination of relatively high horsepower and good fuel economy.

    DETROIT – Cadillac will unveil the all-new 2015 Escalade luxury SUV on October 7 with indie rock photographer and director Autumn de Wilde, who produced a series of portraits and a film highlighting the Escalade design process.

    “I immerse myself in the world of my subjects. I suppose it’s not unlike a method actor’s approach sometimes,” said de Wilde. “My job is to give the audience even more of a reason to form a crush on this person or this object.”

  • Chrysler Group Shines A Light On Breast Cancer Awareness

    October 1, 2013 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Chrysler Group LLC will launch a month-long campaign to add its voice to the nation-wide effort to raise awareness about the importance of early detection, treatment and prevention of breast cancer. The campaign will run in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which begins October 1.

    During the month-long campaign, the Company will conduct a series of informational seminars for its employees with health plan partners Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Henry Ford Health System. Employees will also be able to schedule screenings at various nearby Company locations.

  • Ford EV, hybrid sales juiced up

    One year ago, Ford Motor Co. officially staked its flag in the U.S. electric vehicle circle when it began to launch three new hybrids and two plug-in hybrids.

    And a year later, despite backlash over inflated fuel efficiency claims for the Ford C-Max Hybrid and a delayed launch of the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, the Dearborn automaker has managed to lift its share of the electric and hybrid market from 3 percent to 15 percent. Ford also has been able to steal customers from its chief competitor, Toyota Motor Corp., which it has brazenly viewed as an equal competitor since before any of Ford’s new hybrid vehicles hit dealer lots.


     

  • GM gets Army deal for fuel cell tech

    General Motors Co. said Monday it is has a new cooperative research and development agreement with the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center in Warren to further test and develop hydrogen fuel cell for up to five years.

    The Detroit-based automaker said the company and TARDEC will test the performance and durability of hydrogen fuel-cell materials and designs before building them into full-size systems. The two parties said working together to test technology for both military and consumer applications will give them “more tangible” results than working independently.

     

     

  • Toyota chief urges Detroit Three to list complaints

    Toyota Chairman Takeshi Uchiyamada on Monday challenged Detroit-based automakers to spell out exactly what barriers they face selling in Japan’s market as negotiations between the United States and Japan on a regional free-trade pact intensify.

    “We would like to hear specifically what kind of problems they are seeing. And listening, we’d like to work together in a forward-looking way, including confirming what they’re saying is a fact,” Uchiyamada told reporters after a speech to the Economic Club of Washington.
