• GM Foundation Donates $100,000 to Leadership America

    DETROIT – The General Motors Foundation is granting $100,000 to Leadership America, the longest-running, national women’s development program of its kind in the U.S. The organization of established women leaders offers unique learning environments, as well as professional and personal development opportunities for its more than 2,200 graduate members.

    The GM Foundation grant will help fund Leadership America’s research to explore trends that impact women across the country and shape today’s global business environment, as well as engage new members through interactive learning programs.

  • Ram 1500 Rumble Bee Concept Buzzes into Detroit for Woodward Dream Cruise

    August 17, 2013 , Woodward Dream Cruise, Mich. - Ten years ago, the Ram Truck Brand introduced the Rumble Bee, a popular model inspired by the Super Bee muscle car of the late ‘60s. Today, Ram unveiled a new HEMI-powered Ram 1500 Rumble Bee concept to celebrate the 10-year anniversary and the heritage of Ram’s unique truck designs that include the Lil Red Express, Warlock and Power Wagon.

  • Chevrolet offers sneak peek at new racing Corvette

    MONTEREY, Calif. -- As if anyone had any doubt about a racing version of the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, the answer came Saturday at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

    Without any prior warning to the hundreds of Corvette fans gathered here, what is expected to be the next racing Corvette -- clad in black-and-white camouflage -- took a lap at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

  • GM concept hints at Cadillac's future

    General Motors Co.’s Cadillac brand Thursday showed off a new Cadillac grand coupe concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Carmel, Calif., cues of which could come in a new “top of the range” car Cadillac is developing.

    The Elmiraj Concept, named for El Mirage Lake in the California desert known for its high-speed time trials and inspired by the 1967 Cadillac Eldorado, and can seat four. Cadillac says the rear-wheel drive Elmiraj is its next evolution after the luxury brand showed its touring Ciel Concept, a four-door, four seat convertible, at Pebble Beach two years ago.

    “This project originated around the simple persona of ‘the drive,’ or the visceral experience of driving a great luxury coupe,” said Clay Dean, Cadillac’s executive director of advanced design, in a statement. “It’s an expression of the confidence and poise you feel driving a high-performance car, which we feel is an essential element of top-level luxury.”

     

     

  • Chrysler celebrates 5 millionth vehicle produced in Detroit with veteran employees, USO donation

    DETROIT- Claud Dennis Dent has been through everything the automotive industry has to offer – from the post-WWII boom of the automobile to its darkest days in the late-2000s.

    The 81-year-old Chrysler plant worker has spent more than 50 years building vehicles for the Auburn Hills-based automaker, and on Tuesday he was able to celebrate the 5 millionth vehicle produced at Jefferson North Assembly Plant, where he has spent the past 21 years.

  • Cadillac to debut 2015 Escalade in October

    General Motors Co. said Tuesday its Cadillac brand will reveal the all-new 2015 Cadillac Escalade at a media event in October in New York City.

    The luxury brand will take the wraps off the newly designed Escalade on Oct. 7, according to an invitation sent to media.

    Being ahead of the curve is a huge priority in an industry that moves so very quickly. GM’s Director of Advanced Design, Frank Saucedo briefly discusses what he and his team do, and how it affects the future of GM’s brands like Chevy and Cadillac, and the rest of the car market.   • Ford Expands Inflatable Seatbelt Availability

    The safety features war is on: Honda may be the first automaker to make backup cameras standard across most of its lineup, but Ford is focusing on backseat safety. The automaker is expanding the availability of its rear-seat inflatable seatbelts.

    The industry-first safety feature, which debuted on the 2011 Explorer, combines a shoulder seatbelt and a tubular-shaped airbag that inflates in a crash. Ford announced today that the seatbelts will be available on the Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi sedans for 2014.
